What is Occupational Therapy?
For children, "occupation" means the everyday activities that matter most — playing, learning, dressing, eating, making friends and joining in family life. Occupational therapists help children build the skills and confidence to take part in these activities as independently as possible.
We look at the whole child, considering sensory, physical, cognitive and emotional factors that may be getting in the way.
How We Help
Our occupational therapists support children and families with:
- Sensory processing and regulation
- Fine and gross motor skill development
- Emotional regulation and self-calming strategies
- Daily living skills — dressing, eating, toileting, sleep
- Handwriting, school readiness and classroom participation
- Motor coordination and balance
Our Approach
We take a playful, strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach. Sessions are engaging and child-led, using meaningful activities to build skills naturally rather than through repetitive drills.
We work closely with families and, where helpful, with schools, so strategies carry across every part of a child's day.
What to Expect
Your first session is a parent-only intake conversation to understand your child's history, your goals and the everyday activities that feel tricky right now.
From there we design a tailored plan, with sessions typically held fortnightly and regular reviews to celebrate progress and adjust goals together.
